Malicious software
Fraudsters contaminate your computer so they can hack your data
A malware can infect a computer or device, and possibly all devices with which it communicates.
How do you recognize the presence of a malware on your computer?
Those software are usually installed on your computers or phones without your knowledge. They allow a hacker to access your data.
Once the program is installed on your computer, the hacker can, for example, steal your passwords and/or credentials, copy your data, take control of your computer to connect to your bank account remotely and execute payment orders...
You may have been infected if:
- Alert or error messages of your anti-virus appear on your screen.
- You receive untimely requests for third-party add validation.
- Connecting to your online banking site seems to be taking much longer than usual, or when you try to connect, you get a message in a foreign language.
How to limit the risk
- Do not click on pop up ads that appear instantly when browsing the web.
- Do not open e-mail attachments or click on links within e-mails from an unknown sender.
- Do not install or use pirated copies of software on your work PC.
